To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am pleased to recognize Douglas Ray Woodruff on his appointment to the State Court of Catoosa County.

Judge Woodruff brings three decades of legal experience to the bench, having served in private practice, as a prosecutor and as a criminal defense attorney. He currently serves as solicitor-general of Catoosa County.

Before becoming solicitor-general, Judge Woodruff spent more than a decade as chief assistant public defender for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, where he litigated a variety of complex criminal cases.

His broad experience across multiple areas of the legal profession provides him with a valuable perspective as he assumes the responsibilities of the State Court bench.

Judge Woodruff is also deeply connected to the Catoosa County community, where he and his family reside. Outside the practice of law, he has attended Rock Spring Methodist Church for most of the past 40 years and serves as the church's pianist.

A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Judge Woodruff has built a career defined by service to both the legal profession and his community.

We commend Judge Woodruff on his appointment and wish him continued success as he serves the citizens of Catoosa County and Georgia's justice system.

Sincerely,

William C. “Bill” Gentry
President, State Bar of Georgia
