Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP)

LAP is a confidential service provided through SupportLinc, a program administered by CuraLinc Healthcare, to help State Bar members with life's difficulties. Members are entitled to six prepaid clinical sessions per calendar year.

LAP provides a broad range of helping services to members seeking assistance with stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, family problems, workplace conflicts, psychological and other issues. You can access LAP services by calling 800-327-9631, by emailing gabar@curalinc.com, or by creating an account on the SupportLinc digital platform.

Services Available Through LAP

  • Telephone Hotline: Staffed by trained counselors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are a lawyer or judge and have a personal problem that is causing you significant concern, the Lawyer Assistance Program can help. Please feel free to call LAP's confidential hotline at 800-327-9631.
  • Personal Counseling: Members are entitled to six prepaid clinical sessions per calendar year, accessible via the phone hotline or web portal.
  • Web Portal: The SupportLinc digital platform connects members to a variety of confidential care modalities and resources to improve their mental health through a user friendly, personalized experience. Offerings include:
    • Real-time scheduling: Direct scheduling with a counselor or coach that meets the member’s preferences.
    • Mental Health Navigator: Clinically based assessment that guides members to recommended support and resources.
    • Text therapy: Support modality enabling members to exchange messages, voice notes, and other resources with a licensed clinician.
    • Mindstream™: A fitness studio for the mind designed to proactively engage members in their mental health journey.
    • Digital cognitive behavioral therapy: Self-guided treatment for improving stress, depression, anxiety, substance use, sleep fitness and more.
    • Virtual group support: Anonymous group sessions on various topics moderated by experienced counselors.

 


    If you have previously accessed LAP services and would like to continue sessions with an existing provider, you may do so by following the instructions below.

    Members will need to visit the SupportLinc portal and follow the instructions to access existing providers via BetterHelp:

    • Create an account on the SupportLinc Web Portal.

    • From the SupportLinc dashboard, click Access Care.

    • Click Schedule Care.

    • On the Book Mental Health Support Page, click Get Started.

    • Once you reach the list of providers, CuraLinc providers are listed first – keep scrolling to find the BetterHelp providers. Select your provider and click Continue.

    • You will then see a popup letting you know you are going to BetterHelp. If you have trouble getting the sessions to apply to your existing BetterHelp account, please contact BetterHelp directly at contact@betterhelp.com.
