To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Randal “Randy” M. McGinley on his appointment to the Superior Court of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit.

Judge McGinley brings 15 years of experience serving the Alcovy Judicial Circuit to the Superior Court bench. He began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in the circuit in 2011, was appointed chief assistant district attorney in 2017 and has served as district attorney since 2020.

His commitment to Georgia’s justice system extends beyond the Alcovy Judicial Circuit. Judge McGinley has served as president, vice president and secretary of the District Attorneys’ Association of Georgia, and in 2025, his fellow district attorneys named him District Attorney of the Year. He also serves on the State Child Fatality Review Panel and as chairman of the Investigative Panel of the Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission.

Judge McGinley earned his bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his J.D. from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law.

Judge McGinley’s extensive prosecutorial experience, leadership and commitment to public service will serve him well as he takes on this important responsibility. We congratulate him on his appointment and wish him continued success in his service to the citizens of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit and Georgia’s justice system.

Sincerely,

William C. “Bill” Gentry
President, State Bar of Georgia
