To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Joshua “Josh” Geller on his appointment to the Superior Court of the DeKalb Judicial Circuit and Mercedes G. Ball on her appointment to the State Court of DeKalb County.
Judge Geller brings extensive courtroom and public service experience to the Superior Court bench. As a deputy chief assistant district attorney in DeKalb County, he has supervised the Homicide and Gangs Unit and handled complex cases involving digital forensics and mental health evidence. His career has also included service as a prosecutor in Fulton County and private practice representing indigent clients in criminal matters throughout Georgia.
Judge Ball has served the State Bar of Georgia as assistant general counsel and director of the Client Assistance Program, leading efforts to address informal complaints and certain formal grievances involving Georgia attorneys. Earlier in her career, she represented the interests of dependent children as a child advocate attorney in DeKalb County and worked in private practice.
Both have demonstrated a commitment to public service and to the legal profession throughout their careers. Their experience, professionalism and dedication will serve DeKalb County and its citizens well.
We congratulate Judges Geller and Ball on their appointments and wish them continued success as they take on these important roles in Georgia's justice system.
Sincerely,
William C. “Bill” Gentry
President, State Bar of Georgia
