Congratulations to new Superior Court Judge Jim Kiger

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Douglas County Chief Assistant Public Defender James A. “Jim” Kiger on his appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as a Superior Court judge for the Douglas Judicial Circuit, covering Douglas County.
Judge Kiger will be well served by his 34 years of experience in the legal profession and justice system, including the past 28 years with the Douglas County Public Defender’s Office. He began his legal career in practice with a general trial law firm in Valdosta, Georgia.
By accepting this appointment, Judge Jim Kiger demonstrates his continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish him well in this capacity of judicial leadership.
