Georgia legal community mourns loss of attorney Jim Smith

To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Athens attorney James W. “Jim” Smith on his passing at the age of 80.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1974, Mr. Smith was honored earlier this year for his 50 years of dedicated service to the legal profession and to his clients in Athens and the surrounding areas.
The exemplary career of Jim Smith is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers. We are appreciative of his many contributions to the justice system of our state. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
