Formal Advisory Opinion No. 24-1 Issued Pursuant to Bar Rule 4-403

The second publication of Formal Advisory Opinion No. 24-1 appeared on the State Bar of Georgia website on Sept. 5, 2025. Members of the State Bar of Georgia were notified of the publication by email on Sept. 5, 2025, in compliance with Bar Rule 4-403 (d). The opinion was filed with the Supreme Court of Georgia on Sept. 5, 2025.

In accordance with Bar Rule 4-403 (d), the State Bar of Georgia filed a petition for discretionary review with the Supreme Court of Georgia on Sept. 11, 2025, which the Court granted on Nov. 4, 2025.

On Aug. 11, 2026, the Supreme Court of Georgia issued an order approving Formal Advisory Opinion No. 24-1. Pursuant to Bar Rule 4-403 (e), Formal Advisory Opinion No. 24-1 is binding upon all members of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Supreme Court shall accord this opinion the same precedential authority given to the regularly published judicial opinion of the Court.
