Kelli Byers Hooper | Griffin Circuit, Post 1

Candidate Statement

I am honored to seek election to the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia. For nearly two decades, I have represented individuals and families in serious injury and wrongful death cases in state and federal courts in Georgia and Texas. My work requires sound judgment, ethical leadership and a deep respect for the rule of law—qualities I will bring to the Board.

My commitment to service is strong here in the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Years ago, I learned how to practice law while working at a small firm in Griffin, Georgia. Later, I ran my own firm from Fayette County from 2016–2022. During that time, I was an active member of the Fayette County Bar Association.

I am a parent volunteer with Girl Scout Troop 15065, where my daughter earned her Silver Award, and I previously served as an active parent volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 282, where my son achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. I have been a volunteer mock trial coach at Sandy Creek High School, mentoring students interested in the law and helping cultivate the next generation of advocates. I am also an active member of the Fayette County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, supporting civic engagement and community service initiatives. Public service is a core value in our household; my husband currently serves on the Fayette County Zoning and Planning Board.

Fayette County is my home, and I am deeply invested in its legal and civic community. If elected, I will advocate for transparency, accessibility and meaningful member engagement. I am committed to ensuring that the voices of attorneys in the Griffin Judicial Circuit are heard and respected at the state level.

I respectfully ask for your support.
