Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Jonathan B. Pannell of Savannah has finished his term as president of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the State Bar of Georgia. He turned the gavel over to incoming President Darrell Sutton of Marietta on June 21 during the organization’s Annual Meeting.
A partner at Gray Pannell & Woodward LLP in Savannah, Pannell works primarily in the areas of municipal finance, business law, local governments and public authorities. His practice includes municipal bond law, business law and transactions and commercial real estate matters.
Pannell is a graduate of The University of Georgia and Georgia State University College of Law. He serves as a member of the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the Chatham County Board of Registrars, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and is currently the alumni chairman for Leadership Georgia. He has previously served as secretary, treasurer and president-elect of the YLD and serves on a variety of committees for the State Bar of Georgia.
The YLD has been strengthened over the years through guidance by the State Bar of Georgia, its Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the Supreme Court, and through dedicated service rendered by its members. In keeping with its motto of “working for the profession and the public,” the YLD has more than 25 hard-working committees that produce an array of projects and programs. The YLD has also gained national recognition by winning several American Bar Association awards for its projects and publications.
