To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to former U.S. Virgin Islands Superior Court Judge Denise Hinds Roach on her appointment by Attorney General William Barr to serve as an immigration judge, joining the approximately 460 immigration judges who confirm U.S. citizenship or nationality upon lawful permanent residents.

An active member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1987, Judge Roach served as an assistant solicitor with the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office from 1991 to 1994. From 2012 through 2019, she served as a family court judge in St. Croix. Previously, she served as an assistant attorney general with the Virgin Islands Department of Justice, and as assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of the Virgin Islands in St. Croix, including service as the office’s deputy criminal chief.

By accepting this appointment, Judge Roach demonstrates her ongoing commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish her well in this new capacity of judicial leadership.
