To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to express condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of former DeKalb County State Court Judge Jack B. Smith on his recent passing.
Judge Smith’s exemplary career spanned some four decades, including 30 years on the State Court bench from 1968 through his retirement in 1998 and prior service as a DeKalb County solicitor and assistant solicitor. As a judge, he earned a reputation for being fair and respectful to all parties involved in the cases before him. He also served his country in the Air Force officer’s training academy.
All Georgia lawyers and can be inspired by our colleague’s dedication and career-long efforts to promote the cause of justice, uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens. He will be missed by all who knew him.
