To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to express condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Atlanta attorney L. Jack Swertfeger Jr. on his recent passing.
Mr. Swertfeger’s exemplary career in the legal profession spanned nearly 60 years, during which time he served the public as a special assistant attorney general for the state of Georgia, his profession as past chairman of the State Bar of Georgia’s Real Property Law Section and as a former member of the State Bar’s Executive Committee and Board of Governors and his country as an Army veteran and 1st lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corps.
All Georgia lawyers can be inspired by Jack Swertfeger’s lifelong commitment to service, through which he worked to promote the cause of justice, uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens. He will be missed by all who knew him.
