To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Fayetteville attorney Charles T. Ballard, whose passing Aug. 24 has left us all saddened.

During his more than 58 years as an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, Mr. Ballard earned a well-deserved reputation for excellence in the courtroom as well as trusted counsel for local governmental entities, serving as attorney for both the Fayette County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education as well as the cities of Woolsey, Brooks, Tyrone, Riverdale and Morrow.

A leader in his profession and his community, Mr. Ballard was a co-founder of both the Fayette County Bar Association and the Fayette County Civitan Club. He also served his country as an Army judge advocate for the Center Troop Command at Fort Benning.

Charles Ballard will be missed and fondly remembered by all in Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate the contributions he made during his admirable career and his exemplary service to the public and the justice system.
