To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to offer condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of H. Lane Young II, longtime partner with Hawkins, Parnell, Thackston & Young LLP in Atlanta, on his recent and very untimely passing.
During his distinguished career of more than four decades in the legal profession, Mr. Young achieved a national reputation as a skilled trial lawyer while defending businesses and individuals throughout the country in complex litigation. He earned many professional accolades over the years and was a member emeritus of the Atlanta Bar Association Board of Directors and a board member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.
On a personal note, there were several matters in which I had the opportunity to work with or on the opposite side of Mr. Young. In every case, he was the consummate gentleman and a model of professionalism for all lawyers to follow.
Lane Young will be missed and fondly remembered by his fellow members of the legal community, and we appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable career as a Georgia lawyer and through his devoted service to the justice system.
