Congratulations to Joel Wooten on reappointment to state authority

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to Joel O. Wooten, managing partner of Butler Wooten & Peak LLP in Columbus, on his recent reappointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Georgia Ports Authority.

All Georgians will benefit from Mr. Wooten’s continued service on the authority, which oversees the operations of Georgia’s deep-water ports in Savannah and Brunswick, along with inland barge operations in Bainbridge and Columbus. Mr. Wooten is a past chairman of the Georgia Board of Regents, and he is also to be congratulated on receiving the Amicus Curiare Award last month from the Supreme Court of Georgia, recognizing his “profound impact on the State of Georgia and its legal system.”

Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work with Mr. Wooten on other State Bar matters and can personally attest to his dedication to public service and commitment to the betterment of our state.

With his acceptance of his reappointment to the Ports Authority, Mr. Wooten demonstrates his ongoing commitment to serving the public. We wish him well as he continues to fulfill this important responsibility.
