Congratulations to Tom Rawlings on state Child Advocate post

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend congratulations to Tom C. Rawlings, managing partner of McMillan & Rawlings LLP in Sandersville on his recent appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve as director of the Georgia Office of the Child Advocate.

All Georgians will benefit from the service of Mr. Rawlings as director of the Office of the Child Advocate, which provides independent oversight of the agencies responsible for the protection of abused and neglected children in our state.A member of the State Bar of Georgia for 25 years, he previously served in this position from July 2007 through January 2010 and was also the first full-time Juvenile Court judge for the Middle Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Rawlings' acceptance of this post demonstrates his continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish him well in this important position of statewide leadership.
