To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Coweta Judicial Circuit Senior Superior Court Judge Quillian Baldwin Jr. of LaGrange, whose passing March 15 has left us all saddened.

A member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1970, Judge Baldwin practiced law in LaGrange until 1995, when he was appointed as a Superior Court judge. He also served as Juvenile Court judge for Troup County from 1980 to 1984. During his tenure as a Superior Court judge, he was chief judge for the Coweta Circuit for four years and also served as administrative judge for the 6th Administrative District. After retiring from full-time duty, he continued to serve as a senior judge.

Judge Baldwin also served the public in the Georgia State Senate from 1985 until 1993, the final two years as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Additionally, he served our country as a lieutenant in the Army Airborne Infantry, followed by several years in the Reserves, as well as his church and community in numerous leadership positions.

Judge Baldwin will be missed and fondly remembered by Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable career and his exemplary service to the public and the justice system.
