To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend congratulations and thanks to longtime Augusta Judicial Circuit Superior Court Chief Judge J. Carlisle Overstreet on his retirement from full-time judicial service effective Dec. 31.
During his distinguished career of 45 years in Georgia's legal profession and justice system, Judge Overstreet served as a judge of the Municipal Court of Augusta prior to his appointment to the Superior Court bench for the Augusta Circuit, covering Burke, Columbia and Richmond counties, in 1991. He further serves our courts and the public as a member of the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution.
All members of the State Bar of Georgia are grateful for the dedicated service of Judge Overstreet and are inspired by his many contributions toward strengthening the foundations of our justice system, which protects the rights and liberties of all Americans. We wish him well in the years ahead.
Patrick T. O'Connor
President, State Bar of Georgia
