To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Rajesh “Raj” Mehta, staff attorney with the Cobb County Magistrate Court, on his tragically violent and untimely passing on May 9.

Admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2001, Mr. Mehta’s career included service as a staff attorney with the Cobb Judicial Circuit Superior Court and in private practice before joining the Magistrate Court staff 12 years ago. He was known as a beloved figure at the courthouse and was described by Cobb Chief Magistrate Judge Brendan Murphy to the Marietta Daily Journal as “a helper … if someone needed help, he would stop to help them.”

Raj Mehta will be missed and fondly remembered by his fellow members of the legal community. We appreciate his dedication and the many contributions he made during his career through his exemplary service to the public and justice system.

Sincerely,

Dawn M. Jones
President, State Bar of Georgia
