To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Chattooga County attorney and former Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Joseph E. “Bo” Loggins, whose passing July 24 at the age of 90 has left us all saddened.

Dedicated to the legal profession throughout a career that began in 1955, Judge Loggins practiced law in Summerville for 22 years, serving as president of the Lookout Mountain Bar Association during that time. Judge Loggins was also a dedicated public servant. In addition to his 16 years as Superior Court judge, including 11 as chief judge, Judge Loggins represented the citizens of Northwest Georgia in both the state House of Representatives and state Senate. While in the Senate, he chaired the Senate Rapid Transit Committee, which in 1965 was responsible for the creation of MARTA.

Judge Loggins will be missed and fondly remembered by his legal community colleagues. We appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable legal career and his exemplary service to the profession and the justice system, which we would all do well to emulate.
