To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Monroe attorney John Robert Laseter, whose passing Feb. 23 has left us all saddened.

Admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1965, Mr. Laseter was a partner with Harrison and Laseter in St. Marys, Georgia, until 1974, when he returned to his hometown of Monroe, where he practiced law until his retirement in 2005. As an assistant state attorney general, he represented the Division of Family and Children Services for Barrow, Greene, Morgan and Walton counties. He also served his country in the Army Reserves and was a leader in his church and community.

John Laseter will be missed and fondly remembered by Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable career and his exemplary service to the public and the justice system.
