To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Athens and Atlanta attorney John K. Larkins Jr., whose untimely passing Feb. 9 has left us all saddened.

A member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1976, Mr. Larkins practiced law in Athens for 10 years before joining the Atlanta firm that would become Chivilis, Cochran, Larkins and Bever. An accomplished litigator and legal and historical scholar, he wrote the widely used and cited book, Georgia Contracts: Law and Litigation, and participated for many years in the University of Georgia School of Law’s Orientation on Professionalism.

John Larkins Jr. will be missed and fondly remembered by Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable career and his exemplary service to the public and the justice system.
