To the Editor:
The State Bar of Georgia congratulates Cobb County Chief Magistrate Judge Joyette Holmes on her appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as Cobb’s new district attorney. Joyette becomes the first woman and first African-American to hold this office, making this a significant moment for her as well as our state and our county.
Joyette has the right combination of experience to do this job well. Prior to spending the past four years as chief Magistrate Court judge, she served as an assistant district attorney and assistant solicitor, in addition to a stint in private practice.
Joyette continues to demonstrate her commitment to serving the public and the justice system, and her fellow Georgia lawyers wish her well in this new role.
