To the Editor:
The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Augusta Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court Judge Douglas J. Flanagan, whose passing May 6 has left us all saddened.
Admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1977, Judge Flanagan’s career in the legal profession and justice system spanned 43 years, including the past two decades as a Juvenile Court judge. Previously, he was a public defender in the juvenile justice system. He also served his country as a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Judge Douglas Flanagan will be missed and fondly remembered by Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate his longstanding, exemplary service and the many contributions he made to the public and justice system during his admirable career.
President, State Bar of Georgia
