To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend congratulations and thanks to longtime Toombs Judicial Circuit Superior Court Chief Judge Roger W. Dunaway Jr. on his retirement from full-time judicial service effective Dec. 31.
During his distinguished career of 45 years in Georgia's legal profession and justice system, Judge Dunaway practiced law in Augusta and Thomson and served as county attorney for McDuffie County prior to joining the Superior Court bench for the Toombs Circuit, covering Glascock, Lincoln, McDuffie, Taliaferro, Warren and Wilkes counties, in 1997. He has also served the legal profession as a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia and as president of the Toombs Circuit Bar Association.
All members of the State Bar of Georgia are grateful for the dedicated service of Judge Dunaway and are inspired by his many contributions toward strengthening the foundations of our justice system, which protects the rights and liberties of all Americans. We wish him well in the years ahead.

President, State Bar of Georgia
