To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to offer condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Ellijay attorney Avary M. Dimmock Jr. on his recent passing at the age of 94.

During his distinguished career in the legal profession, beginning in 1949, Mr. Dimmock served the legal profession and the community as the first president of the Appalachian Judicial Circuit Bar Association, city attorney for Ellijay, county attorney for Gilmer County, president of the County Attorneys of Georgia, president of the Ellijay Rotary Club and president of the Ellijay Lions Club. He also served his country as a Navy veteran.

Avary Dimmock Jr. will be missed and fondly remembered by his fellow members of the legal community. We appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable career through his exemplary service to the public and the justice system.
