To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia congratulates Walter W. Davis, administrative partner of the Jones Day law firm’s Atlanta office, on his appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as the first judge of the new Georgia Statewide Business Court. Gov. Kemp and the Georgia General Assembly enacted legislation creating the court earlier this year, after the state’s voters had approved a necessary constitutional amendment in 2018.

Judge Davis brings 18 years of experience in the legal profession relative to his new position, with his practice focusing on securities litigation, shareholder disputes and corporate governance matters, as well as significant experience in insider trading, accounting and corporate compliance matters. He has further served the legal profession as co-chair of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Securities and Corporate Litigation Subcommittee and as a board member of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.

Judge Davis continues to demonstrate his commitment to serving the public and the justice system, and his fellow members of the State Bar of Georgia wish him well in this new role.
