To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to Dougherty County Commission Chairman Christopher S. Cohilas, a partner with Watson Spence LLP in Albany, on his recent appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the Georgia Circuit Public Defender Council.

All Georgians will benefit from Mr. Cohilas’ service on the council, which works to ensure that each client of a circuit public defender receives zealous, adequate, effective, timely and ethical legal representation.

Mr. Cohilas’ acceptance of this appointment is evidence of his dedication to serving the public, in addition to his 14 years in the legal profession and prior service as chief assistant district attorney for Dougherty County. His fellow members of the State Bar of Georgia wish him well in a new capacity of statewide leadership.

Brian D. “Buck” Rogers
President, State Bar of Georgia
