To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend congratulations and thanks to Cobb County State Court Judges Melodie H. Clayton, Irma B. Glover and Kathryn J. Tanksley on their retirement from office effective Dec. 31.

Georgia's State Court judges fulfill a vital responsibility in the administration of justice at the local level. Judge Clayton has been an active member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1980 and served on the State Court bench for 24 years. Judge Glover joined the State Bar in 1968 and was a State Court judge for 21 years. Judge Tanksley served as State Court judge for 14 years and has been a Bar member since 1983.

All members of Georgia's legal community are grateful for the service of these distinguished jurists and are inspired by their many contributions toward strengthening the foundations of our justice system, which protects the rights and liberties of all Americans. We wish each of them well in the years ahead.

Patrick T. O'Connor

President, State Bar of Georgia
