To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Annamarie V. Baltz, Alyssa Blanchard and Tabitha Ponder on their appointments by Cobb County Chief Magistrate Judge Brendan F. Murphy to serve as part-time magistrate judges.

Judge Baltz will be well served in her new position by her 15 years of experience in the legal profession, including nine years of service as a Cobb County assistant solicitor-general and, before that, as a staff attorney for Cobb County State Court Judge Toby Prodgers.

Judge Blanchard brings more than six years of legal experience to the Magistrate Court bench, most recently as a partner at the Marietta law firm of O’Dell, O’Neal, Hungerford & Blanchard, where her law practice is focused in the area of family law.

Judge Ponder has more than 18 years of legal experience and is the founder and managing attorney of the Ponder-Solomon Law Group P.C. headquartered in the Cumberland area. She is also the contracted staff attorney for the Georgia Judicial Council’s Access to Justice Committee and a board member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys.

By accepting these appointments, Judge Baltz, Judge Blanchard and Judge Ponder each demonstrate their continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish them well in their new capacity of judicial leadership.
