To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Rome resident and Atlanta attorney Richard W. “Rick” Gilbert of Atlanticus Holdings Corp. on being named the new chair of the Berry College Board of Trustees.

A member of the State Bar since 1978, Mr. Gilbert is a Berry College alumnus and has served on the Board of Trustees since 2008, most recently as vice chair. He further serves the education community as foundation chair of the Georgia Greater Opportunities for Access to Learning Scholarship program.

We also salute Rome native and Atlanta attorney G. Bert Clark Jr., a Berry Board of Trustees member who was named to succeed Mr. Gilbert as vice chair. A Georgia Bar member since 1985, Mr. Clark is wealth management advisor and principal of Clark Financial Group.

By accepting these positions of trust, Rick Gilbert and Bert Clark demonstrate their continued commitment to serving the community. We wish them well in these new capacities of higher education leadership.

President, State Bar of Georgia
