To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend congratulations and thanks to Glynn County Magistrate Court Chief Judge Timothy Barton on his retirement from office effective Dec. 31.
Georgia's Magistrate Court judges fulfill a vital responsibility in the administration of justice at the local level. Judge Barton served more than a decade in that office and has been an active member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1979.
All members of Georgia's legal community are grateful for the service rendered by Judge Barton and are inspired by his many contributions toward strengthening the foundations of our justice system, which protects the rights and liberties of all Americans. We wish him well in the years ahead.

President, State Bar of Georgia
