To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Brookhaven resident and longtime Atlanta attorney William F. “Bill” Bartee Jr. on his recent passing.

During his distinguished career that began with his admission to the State Bar of Georgia in 1965, Mr. Bartee served the public as head of the Criminal Division of the Georgia Attorney General’s Office and as assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. He later entered private law practice and served as corporate counsel for Rollins Inc. and Crawford & Company.

Mr. Bartee also served his country in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps at Fort McPherson, Fort Gillem and the Fifth Corps in Frankfurt, Germany, where he received a Meritorious Service Medal. He continued his military service in the Army Reserves.

Bill Bartee’s exemplary lifetime of service is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers. We are appreciative of his many contributions to the cause of justice in our state and nation.

Sincerely,
Brian D. “Buck” Rogers
President, State Bar of Georgia
