To the Editor:

The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Rupert M. Barkoff, chair of the franchise law team at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP in Atlanta, whose passing June 5 has left us all saddened.

A leader among his peers in the legal profession, Mr. Barkoff served three years as chair of the American Bar Association’s 2,000-member Forum on Franchising and was a founder of the Franchise and Distribution Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the Southeast Franchise Forum. He was well known for his collegial relationship with his fellow lawyers and his willingness to interact and mentor younger lawyers in the practice of franchise law.

Mr. Barkoff will be missed and fondly remembered by his legal community colleagues. We appreciate the many contributions he made during his admirable career and his exemplary service to the profession and the justice system.
