To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to the Bar members who were recently appointed by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to serve on the city’s new Task Force for the Promotion of Public Trust.
The mayor’s initial appointees include Leah Ward Sears, retired chief justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, who will chair the task force; Joe D. Whitley, former U.S. attorney for the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia and former acting associate U.S. attorney general; Overtis Hicks “O.V.” Brantley, retired attorney for DeKalb County and Fulton County; and Atlanta resident R. Lawton Jordan III of Williams Teusink LLC in Decatur. When completely filled, the task force will be charged with evaluating the city’s legislative and administrative policies and procedures with regard to ethics transparency and compliance.
With their acceptance of these appointments, Justice Sears, Mr. Whitley, Ms. Brantley and Mr. Jordan demonstrate their continued commitment to serving the public. We wish them well in this new capacity of leadership for the City of Atlanta.
