Candidate's Campaign Message

Please Vote For Chandler Bridges, Candidate Post 6, Cobb Circuit

All the other candidates are my friends and are good folks.

What can I offer that is different? I have a broad perspective on the practice of law, our justice system and the need for regular contact and input with members.

  1. I've been a lawyer since 1968; my cases involve:  divorce, juvenile, criminal, probate, realty disputes, trespass, bodily injury, mental health & securities arbitration (FINRA).
  2. I was interim DeKalb Sheriff...600 employees, 2000 inmates, $32,000,000 budget
  3. I was part-time DeKalb Magistrate for 16 years and Clerk - DeKalb Superior Court for 4 years.
  4. My wife and I moved to Wonderful Cobb in 2003 after retirement as DeKalb Magistrate.
  5. I am the UN official bar photographer... a hobby-see photos at
  6. I am active in Cobb Bar Association, in 5 sections, president of one  and treasurer of two.
  7. In DeKalb I was President, VP, & Treasurer of that bar when it had about 500 members.
  8. My pledges:
    1. To serve the entire 2700 Cobb Judicial Circuit members (not just the 1100 Cobb Bar Association members), to keep you informed of State Bar activities, to meet with as many of you as possible to get your ideas about the practice of law.
    2. To strive to restrain expansion of bar activity into areas not related to the justice system.
    3. To encourage adoption of new technology by the courts and bar for financial savings and efficiencies.
    4. To spend the time and funds needed to be a good member of the Board of Governors; it probably costs $1-2K a year & over 200 hours to be a board member

  • Married to Beverly Bridges (former Court Reporter - now retired from Cobb Superior Court)
  • 2 grown children
  • Cobb resident since 2003, 10 years.
  • Born, raised in DeKalb and Fulton Counties

Professional Background, Bar Activities, Civic Activities:

  • President Solo/Small Firm Section, Cobb Bar
  • Treasurer of Family Law and Criminal Law Sections, Cobb Bar
  • Unofficial photographer Cobb . . . see

Work and practice spectrum:

  • Lawyer since 1968
  • Clerk of DeKalb Superior Court (elected)
  • Part-time Magistrate DeKalb Co. 16 yrs.
  • Interim Sheriff DeKalb County after Pat Jarvis
  • Securities Arbitrator for FINRA (old NASD)
  • Special Asst. Attorney General-GA (mental health cases)
  • Contract Pub. Defender 10 yrs., DeKalb Juvenile
  • Served as Receiver/Arbitrator in numerous cases by court appointment
  • Special Master (many MARTA cases in past)

Main issues facing the State Bar/position:

  • Our local Bar (Cobb Bar Association) has less than 50 percent of circuit members (1150+- of 2609 total). I want to be responsive to and interactive with full 2609 members.
  • As a fiscal conservative, I believe our State Bar must be on guard against new, costly non-professional activities.
  • We need to embrace technology in Bar operations, continuing education, and judicial practice management for cost efficiencies and for better and quicker outcomes in the judicial and transactional areas.
