Notice of Correction of Scrivener's Errors

On January 12, 2018, having considered the 2017-3 Motion to Amend the Rules and Regulations for the Organization and Government of the State Bar of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia ordered a comprehensive amendment to the State Bar of Georgia Disciplinary Procedures, effective July 1, 2018. The Court also ordered that scrivener’s errors in the amended rules may be corrected, and changes in other provisions of Part IV of the State Bar Rules necessary to conform those provisions to these amended rules may be made by the State Bar of Georgia without motion and approval of the Court, provided that such corrections or conforming changes are not substantive. The order requires that the State Bar of Georgia provide the Court written notice of any correction or change no less than 30 days before the correction or change is made. The notice must include an explanation of why the correction or change is not substantive.

Amendments to Rules 4-201 (b) and 4-201.1 (b) concern the composition of the State Disciplinary Board and the State Disciplinary Review Board.  Accordingly all current references to the Investigative Panel will be changed to the State Disciplinary Board and all current references to the Review Panel will be changed to the State Disciplinary Review Board in all State Bar publications and on the State Bar of Georgia website.

Other non-substantive changes to correct typographical errors, such as spelling, capitalization and spacing, and to apply stylistic changes to comply with stylistic rules adopted by the State Bar of Georgia will also be made throughout the Rules and Regulations for the Organization and Government of the State Bar of Georgia and throughout the State Bar of Georgia website.

This notice, having been filed with the Supreme Court of Georgia on June 29, 2018, is being published in compliance with the Supreme Court of Georgia’s January 12, 2018 order.
