Georgia legal community mourns loss of Judge Gary Markwell

To the Editor:
The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Gary Joe Markwell of Gary J. Markwell, P.C., on his passing at the age of 77.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1977, Gary Markwell served for more than three decades as judge of the Ball Ground Municipal Court. He also served as a magistrate for Fulton County, city attorney for Alpharetta and as judge of the Mountain Park Municipal Court. He served his profession as president of the North Fulton Bar Association and his country as a Naval officer during the Vietnam War.
Judge Gary Markwell’s exemplary career of service is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers and judges. We appreciate and will remember his many contributions to the justice system in our state.
