Alpharetta-Roswell Herald
To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Charles S. “Sam” Thomas of Alpharetta after his passing on Aug. 24.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1975, Mr. Thomas joined the firm of Bovis, Kyle, Burch & Medlin and served as city attorney for Alpharetta from 1985 until his death. Known for his passion for municipal law and development, he authored code that became the standard for development impact fee structures for much of the southeast. His counsel to Alpharetta leaders helped the city adapt to and benefit from its tremendous population growth over the past four decades.
Sam Thomas’ exemplary career is an inspiration to all members of the legal community. We are appreciative of his many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
