Congratulations to new Georgia College & State University President Cathy Cox

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to Mercer University School of Law Dean L. Catharine “Cathy” Cox on her appointment to serve as the new president of Georgia College and State University.
Dean Cox’s distinguished career of more than 34 years as a member of the Georgia Bar has been dedicated to serving the public and the justice system in the fields of law, government and higher education.
Our state has benefited greatly from her service as a practicing lawyer and state legislator, as the first woman to serve as Georgia’s secretary of state, as president of Young Harris College and for the last four years as dean of Mercer Law.
Dean Cox’s acceptance of this appointment demonstrates her continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish her well in this new capacity of leadership in higher education.
