Mitchell County Enterprise-Journal, Camilla
To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Camilla attorney and Mitchell County State Court Judge Frank S. Twitty Jr. after his passing Aug. 1 at the age of 86.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1958, Judge Twitty practiced law with his father until his father’s passing in 1981 and later with the firm of Twitty & Bankston until his retirement in 1998. He also served for 22 years as judge of the Mitchell County State Court and, prior to that, as the court’s solicitor for 10 years. He further served the public as county attorney for Mitchell County for 17 years, city attorney for Camilla for 38 years and as attorney for the Mitchell County Hospital Authority and Camilla and Mitchell County development authorities, among other positions.
Judge Twitty also served the legal profession as a past president of the Mitchell County Bar Association and South Georgia Judicial Circuit Bar Association and as a member of the Investigative Panel for the Disciplinary Board of the State Bar of Georgia.
Judge Frank Twitty’s exemplary lifetime of service is an inspiration to all members of the legal community. We are appreciative of his many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
