To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to Kathryn M. “Katie” Powers, visiting assistant professor of law and director of advocacy at Mercer University School of Law, on her appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve on the Georgia Board of Juvenile Justice.

All Georgians will benefit from Ms. Powers’ service on the board, which establishes policy to be followed by the Department of Juvenile Justice in developing programs designed to successfully rehabilitate juvenile offenders committee to the state’s custody and to provide guidance to the commissioner of juvenile justice.

As a former Clayton County Superior Court and State Court judge and assistant district attorney, Ms. Powers’ acceptance of this appointment demonstrates her continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish her well in this new capacity of statewide leadership.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
