ObserverTo the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Atlanta attorney Emory A. Schwall after his passing on June 20.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1950, Mr. Schwall rendered distinguished service to the public and justice system for more than 70 years. A native of Moultrie, he served as a special assistant attorney general of Georgia, representing the state insurance commissioner while also engaged in private law practice. He further served his profession as a founding member of the Emory Law School Council and his community as vice president and director of the Shepherd Center Inc., among other capacities.

Emory Schwall’s exemplary lifetime of service is an inspiration to all members of the legal profession. We are appreciative of his many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. He will be missed and remembered.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
