The Champion, Decatur

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to congratulate DeKalb County State Court Judge Alvin T. Wong on his election and installation as the new president of the Georgia Council of State Court Judges. Judge Wong is the first Asian American Pacific Islander to serve as president of any judicial council in Georgia.

Judge Wong brings 45 years of legal and judicial experience to the position of council president, including the past 23 years on the DeKalb State Court bench. A well-recognized leader in Georgia’s judiciary, he is a recipient of the State Bar of Georgia’s Tradition of Excellence Award and Chief Justice Thomas O. Marshall Professionalism Award, the DeKalb Bar Association’s Legal Pioneer Award and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s Trailblazer Award.

Judge Wong’s service as president of the Council of State Court Judges is further evidence of his commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish him well in this new capacity of statewide leadership.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgi
