To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to Gerald W. “Jerry” Bruce on his appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as Georgia’s child advocate.
All Georgians will benefit from Mr. Bruce’s service in the Office of the Child Advocate, which provides independent oversight of persons, organizations and agencies responsible for providing services to children who are victims of child abuse and neglect or whose domestic situation requires intervention by the state.
With 26 years of experience in child welfare and juvenile justice law, Mr. Bruce previously served as a Juvenile Court judge in the Enotah Judicial Circuit (Lumpkin, Towns, Union and White counties), as a special assistant attorney general representing the Department of Family and Children Services in Rabun, Towns and Union counties and, most recently, as court improvement program director and attorney for the Supreme Court of Georgia Committee on Justice for Children.
Mr. Bruce’s acceptance of this appointment is evidence of his dedication to serving the public and the justice system. His fellow members of the State Bar of Georgia wish him well in this new capacity of statewide leadership.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
