The Clayton Tribune
The Advance, Vidalia
To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime and well-respected trial lawyer Hugh B. McNatt of Vidalia after his passing on June 1.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1972, Mr. McNatt earned a national reputation for courtroom eloquence and excellence, starting in Toombs County and expanding rapidly throughout South Georgia and beyond. He was well known throughout the state’s legal community, whether in his hometown of Uvalda, at his mountain home in Clayton or in the Atlanta offices of Balch & Bingham LLP, where he was a partner. During his career, he earned both the Chief Justice Thomas O. Marshall Professionalism Award, presented by the State Bar of Georgia, and the Tradition of Excellence Award, presented by the State Bar’s General Practice & Trial Section.
Hugh McNatt’s exemplary lifetime of service is an inspiration to all members of the legal profession. We are appreciative of his many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. He will be missed and remembered.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth L. Fite
President, State Bar of Georgia
