Financial Performance Representations: Life After the New NASAA Commentary
The North American Securities Administrators Association recently voted to adopt new Commentary on financial performance representations (FPR). The FPR Commentary provides additional guidance for franchisors that include a FPR in Item 19 of their Franchise Disclosure Document, including disclosures of averages and means, use of a subset of locations, use of data from company-owned outlets, and disclaimers. Come learn more about the new FPR Commentary, and discuss what impact it is expected to have on FPRs and the state examination process moving forward.

New Accounting Rules for Franchise Fees
There are new accounting rules which will have an impact of how franchisors recognize revenue with respect to the initial franchise fee. This change could have a major impact on a franchisor’s income statements. This change will impact the revenue that can be recognized in any given year, as well as short-term and long-term liabilities. Come learn some of the basics around this rule change and how it could impact franchisors.
