Overview
The State Bar of Georgia seeks a highly motivated individual to join our team in the Communications Department as the Communications Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Graphic design and layout of printed and web pieces
  • Writing, editing and proofing Bar communications
  • Managing advertising of the Georgia Bar Journal
  • Managing the social media accounts of the Bar
  • Assisting in content development and updating the Bar’s website

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor degree required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Technical proficiency with HTML and web design
  • Social media marketing techniques and experience
  • Strong organizational skills: manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Strong writing ability, mastery of English language (essential for editing/writing/proofing)
  • Working knowledge of AP style
  • Creativity; ability to design
  • Photography skills
  • Effective communicator (i.e., Bar leaders, judges, lawyers, media, public, vendors and fellow staff)
  • Adhere to time schedules/deadlines
  • Conscientious, positive attitude

Salary
Commensurate with skills and experience.

Administrative Assistant | Transition Into Law Practice Program

Position: Administrative Assistant
Department: Transition Into Law Practice Program, State Bar of Georgia
Supervisor: Director, Transition Into Law Practice Program ("TILPP")
Location: Downtown Atlanta Area
Job Type: Part-time Temporary to Full-Time Permanent

Nature of Work
Primary responsibilities are administrative in nature, including, but not limited to the following:

  1. Handle all correspondence and inquiries of the Program, including compliance emails, and mailings to State Bar members; continuing legal education providers; and parties requesting information;
  2. Maintain a database of approximately 2500+ mentor-beginning attorney assignments per calendar year; 
  3. Create and maintain a database/library of educational materials, including articles, speeches, books, presentation materials and media;
  4. Prepare materials and provide assistance for orientations, continuing legal education programs, meetings, receptions and other events that may occur on or off-site;
  5. Maintain adequate inventory of office supplies;
  6. Perform such other activities and responsibilities as assigned by the Director in furtherance of the goals of the Program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Familiarity of legal system and profession a plus;
  2. Capable of working quickly and efficiently with a keen attention to detail;
  3. Self-starter, the ability to take initiative;
  4. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team;
  5. Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and multitask;
  6. Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  7. Proficient in English grammar, punctuation, spelling and diction;
  8. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing;
  9. Self-assurance; professional appearance and demeanor;
  10. Sound judgment and even temperament;
  11. Solid research, analytical and problems solving skills;
  12. Ability to quickly learn new technology and systems adopted by the department;
  13. Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as members and outside vendors.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; 
  2. Three (3) years or more of progressive office experience as an administrative assistant or its equivalent;
  3. Paralegal training/prior experience as a paralegal a plus;
  4. Prior work experience in private law firms, government legal departments or bar associations a plus.

Technical Skills

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  2. Proficiency in Adobe Professional and other programs that could assist the Department in being more efficient;

Travel
Occasional in-state travel may be required.

Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week

Salary
High 30,000s. Commensurate with experience.
