The State Bar of Georgia has a new temporary website. While not as robust as its formal predecessor, this new temporary site offers more functionality than the static page that was previously online. Next week, we anticipate restoring member login functionality which will allow State Bar members to pay Bar license fees, order letters of good standing, order Bar cards, update contact information and personal preferences, and log in to Fastcase, etc. Bar staff now have their re-imaged devices offering improved security. If you sent Bar staff an email between April 28 and May 11, we were not able to receive it. Email is up and flowing now. Please resend your correspondence so that we may assist you. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through the unauthorized access of our network.

The week of May 9-13 was dedicated to continuing to contain, eradicate and investigate the unauthorized access. We are continuing to work on providing limited internal access to assist departments with their work, as well as preparing and implementing the re-imaging of staff devices to ensure their safety as we move forward.

This updates our members as we work through the process of repairing and rebuilding under an enhanced security framework and investigating the previously reported incident. We will provide additional updates as information becomes available, but at least every Friday until the network and website are restored. Never hesitate to contact us (through a specific department) for information. Updated information has been added to a list of Frequently Asked Questions to assist you going forward.
Week of May 1 - May 6, 2022
The week of May 1-6 was devoted to containment, eradication and investigation, including efforts to determine the extent of any unauthorized access to member information. We have also continued to work to protect against further ongoing unauthorized access and plan for rebuilding systems. This process can be long and inconvenient, but we are determined to move in a manner that is smart and safe. We are fortunate, however, that when we do move forward with certain functionality, we will be able to move faster at that point, as our backup data and network databases are in good order.

The State Bar of Georgia recently learned of unauthorized access to its network. Upon learning of the unauthorized access, we immediately took steps to secure the network, a cybersecurity firm was engaged and a thorough investigation is being conducted. An endpoint detection and response system is being deployed throughout our network, which includes real-time continuous monitoring, analysis and response capabilities. We are still investigating the incident and have not determined what information, if any, the unauthorized actor may have accessed. Updates will be posted here as additional information is available.
