Throughout the legislative session, please
visit our website for a complete summary of Bar proposals,
other legislative items of interest and links to addresses, phone numbers
and e-mail addresses for your legislators. And to join the State
Bar’s Legislative Action Network, update your member profile on the
Bar's website to include your home address and official
e-mail address or send an e-mail with your home address and
official e-mail address to the membership department. Visiting the website and
joining the Legislative Action Network will give you up-to-date
information on all legislative issues and provide an easy way to
communicate with your state representatives and senators.

DIVERSITY PROGRAM PRESENTS THE 2010 BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
SYMPOSIUM

The State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program
presents the 2010 Business Development Symposium-Part II. The event
will be held Feb. 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bar Center.
Participants will hear from general counsels on how
diversity impacts business development and receive tips on
cultivating relationships with prospects. One optional

2010 SPRING MEETING

The State Bar of Georgia's Spring 2010 Board
of Governors Meeting will be held April 16-18, at the Brasstown
Valley Resort & Spa in Young Harris. The registration

LOCAL AND VOLUNTARY BAR AWARDS

Each year, the State Bar
of Georgia's Local and Voluntary Bar Activities Committee sponsors
the Local and Voluntary Bar Awards, recognizing excellence in local
and circuit bar associations. These awards are intended to encourage
local and voluntary bars to promote activities within their
communities relating to the improvement of the administration of
justice, the objectives of the State Bar of Georgia and the image
of lawyers. The awards will be presented at the State Bar's Annual
Meeting at Amelia Island, Fla., on June 18.
The deadline for
submission is Friday, May 7, and we encourage every local bar to
submit an entry. Download the guidelines and criteria for more information.

FREE CASEMAKER TRAINING
OFFERED THROUGH THE STATE BAR
|
|
|
Free online legal
research is available to all Bar members. Learn how to effectively
use and navigate the Georgia Casemaker library. Training classes
will be offered at the Bar Center on Thursday, Feb. 18 and 25, from
10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. The sessions are limited to the
first 10 attendees. Complete a registration form, which can be submitted by e-mail
or printed and faxed to Kim Henry at 404-527-8717 by noon on the
day before the class is scheduled. Two general CLE credits are
offered for a $10 fee.
Casemaker training is
also offered online in a webinar format. Please contact our office
to let us know if you are interested in this option.
